BREED CLASS GUIDE

NOTE: One-of-a-kinds/tests, raffle, auction, and prize models unique to a show or event are ineligible for "Breed" classes. You may only enter these models in Collectibility Class C09.

Custom (CM) class entries must be customized by the entrant using a Breyer factory-made body as its foundation. No artist resin casts or 3-D printed models. The custom may include resin cast or 3-D printed parts attached to a Breyer body but no more than 25% of total model. Do not identify the artist.
Foals (any horse under one year of age) can only enter foal classes.
North American Colonial refers to the many wild breeds/bands that are descendants of horses the Spanish deposited on the North American continent, including Spanish Mustang, Kiger Mustang, Carolina Marsh Tacky, Cayuse. If you have a breed that qualifies, OMHPS will guide you to this class.
Partbreds. If your horse is a partbred horse, put the horse in the “Other” class most consistent with its body type. If your half-Mustang, half-Thoroughbred looks most like a stock horse, put him in Other Pure/Part Stock. If he looks more like a sport horse, put him in Other Pure/Part Sport.
South American Colonial refers to the many wild breeds/bands that are descendants of horses the Spanish deposited on the South American continent, including Campolina, Campeiro, Criollo. If you have a breed that qualifies, OMHPS will guide you to this class.
TWH/TWH Derivative is for Tennessee Walking Horses and derivative horse breeds such as the Walkaloosa, Racking Horse. It does not include the American Walking Pony.

COLLECTIBILITY CLASS GUIDE

Animal classes do not include horses. Animals may only enter “Animal” classes (C15, C16, C17).
Blue Ribbon/Chalky/Pearly means any model that has a blue ribbon sticker, a painted white base coat (appears chalky), or is made of pearly plastic (shimmery/pearly base coat). These are made of an experimental plastic in the 1970s that is different from the pearlescent paint that Breyer has used recently, and must show only in this class.
Fantasy Equine includes unicorns and pegasus.
Modern Decorator should include only wedgewood, copenhagen, gold charm or blue florentine, basically any of the blue or gold colors, made in or after 1980.
Modern Woodgrain includes woodgrains made in or after 1980.
Other Vintage Colors means any vintage or modern model that is smoke/charcoal/alabaster, or other vintage color. Smoke/charcoal/alabaster models have a gray body and white mane/tail or white body with gray mane/tail. An example of a smoke/charcoal is the #121 Running Mare. An example of an Alabaster is #85 Diablo, the Mustang (semi-rearing mustang mold). In addition, Other vintage colors include old style appaloosas (like the splatter style found on the fighting stallion), the vintage sorrel color that is often found on the five gaiter, the vintage palomino found on the fighting stallion and so forth.
Red Roan means any vintage or modern “old style unrealistic splatter red roan.” Example: #170 Scratching Foal Red Roan.
Silver Decorator means any decorator that is solid silver or silver filigree.
Unrealistic Animal includes domestic and wild animal species.
Vintage Decorator includes only wedgewood, copenhagen, gold charm or blue florentine, basically any of the blue or gold colors, produced before 1980.
Vintage Woodgrain means any woodgrain produced before 1980.
